Finding inspiration in the quiet corners of the world

Luhanri’s inspiration for the Earthen Dreams Collection comes from a deep, spiritual place. “I'm constantly searching for that spiritual element that's beyond the visible,” she shares. 

“My aim is to reproduce it and create moments of connection for the viewer. By doing so, I hope to encourage them to pause and reflect on the beauty of things that are often overlooked in our fast-paced lives.”

Ultimately for Luhanri, it’s about creating those moments of connection, providing a space for hope and joy in our often chaotic world.

A peek into the creative process

Luhanri's technique involves starting with references from nature, often photos she's taken on her travels, before letting intuition take over. "Once I begin painting, I follow my intuition and forget about the references. I do plan every painting, considering the composition, colour, and other elements," she explains, adding, “however, the outcome is never exactly what I expect. I get lost in the process, and everything changes with spur-of-the-moment decisions.”

This spontaneous process means that each piece is unique, crafted with a blend of acrylics and oils to create soft, muted tones that enhance the serene feel of her work. 

“I usually start with a thin layer of acrylics and then switch to oils. I prefer to use soft, muted colours as it strengthens the serene atmosphere in my work and complements the hidden messages I weave into it. I love creating unplanned details in certain areas with multiple layers, while leaving other areas unfinished with fewer details.”

Creating emotional resonance through art

With each piece in the Earthen Dreams Collection, Luhanri aims to offer a sanctuary. “I want to give the viewer a created moment where they can hit the pause button. I want them to have hope, feel at peace and know that they are deeply cared for in a world with a lot of noise,” she says. Her art isn't just meant to be seen – it's meant to be felt, to evoke peace and tranquillity that soothe the soul.

Evolution of an artist

Luhanri’s journey from portrait to landscape painting began as a search for a new challenge, leading her to explore landscapes in an abstract, intuitive way. 

“For many years, I used to paint portraits, but I wanted to try something new and more challenging. A friend suggested that I try painting landscapes, but I wanted to experiment with a more abstract approach. I wanted to follow my intuition and paint with more freedom and less constraints,” Luhanri reflects. 

This shift has allowed her to explore freedom and expression without constraints, bringing her unique vision to life in the Earthen Dreams Collection. “Painting landscapes in an abstract way allowed me to express my inner feelings and to create a dreamy world where I could relax and breathe.
